A food allergy is a serious and potentially life-threatening reaction that can occur after ingestion of a certain food. In fact, one in 13 children have food allergies, which is almost two children in every classroom. The most common food allergies are to milk, eggs, wheat, soy, peanut, tree nut, fish and shellfish. Reactions are almost always immediate, and in rare cases will occur after two hours. While some food allergies are lifelong, some are commonly outgrown. Food allergies are diagnosed by first getting a thorough history of the type of symptoms that occur after food ingestion.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n
