Cancers of the mouth, throat and lungs have already been associated with tobacco use. Chronic bronchitis, emphysema and chronic laryngitis are also caused by smoking. Some laryngeal polyps are caused by tobacco smoke. Oral cancers can be caused by chewing tobacco. Combining smoking with excessive use of alcohol increases the risk of developing one of these malignant tumors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tobacco smoking also affects the aging of the skin causing a leathery wrinkled appearance. Smokers also do not heal as well as nonsmokers following surgery.
